The HSM Host interface can be configured using the Console to emulate a number of types of data communications equipment and control equipment. At the end of the configuration, the user is given the option to save the host interface settings to a Smartcard.
To configure the Host port, set the HSM into the offline state (insert the key in one of the KEY switches on the front panel and rotate it a half turn), with power applied and the Console terminal connected.
The Console displays:
HSM going OFFLINE, press Reset to go Online.
Offline>
Enter CH <Return> (Configure Host) to initiate the set-up dialogue. Examples of the various configurations are shown by the following four topics. User inputs are shown underlined. The CH command can also be used while the HSM is in the secure state.
